  • 4K refers to a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, a total of about 8.3 million pixels. A Native, or True, 4K projector will deliver all 8.3 million pixels and each pixel is individually addressable on the screen.

A 4K UHD projector will provide a 4K image at a lower price by using pixel shifting technology. The projector rapidly shifts each pixel on the screen providing a faux 4K resolution. These projectors often provide excellent image at a fraction of the price of a Native 4K projector.

  • Projector brightness is measured in lumens, in theory the higher the lumens the brighter the projector will be. For home cinema projectors we would suggest opting for a product with at least 2000 lumens.

  • A projector's throw distance is the distance between the projector and the image on the screen. Projectors are often categorised based on their throw distances i.e Ultra Short Throw, Short Throw and Long Throw projectors.
  • This is a personal choice. Lamp projectors provide excellent picture quality, the reason that laser projectors are becoming the norm is because the production of mercury bulbs is being phased out and will shortly become a thing of the past.
  • The important element to look for in a gaming projector is low input lag. This determines how many milliseconds the delay between your controller and screen is. The lower the input, the faster the projector responds to your actions.
  • The simple answer is yes. With the addition of an AV Receiver you can connect anything that you would normally watch on a TV to your projector. This includes Sky boxes, Fire sticks, Apple TV and gaming consoles. We have a great blog on this here: "Can I watch normal TV on a projector?"
