Purpose Built Dedicated Home Cinema Extension
When planning an extension to their farmhouse, this client envisioned a dedicated cinema room that would provide the perfect space for family movie nights. The 4m x 4m purpose-built room was designed without windows, ensuring an optimal home theatre setup with complete light control. Using our online quote form, the client outlined their requirements, which led to further discussions over the phone. After reviewing the floorplans, our team was able to specify the best products for the space and provide detailed CAD drawings to assist with the installation.
We were in the market for a Cinema room and home audio setup, after speaking with lots of different companies, we came across Pure theatre at a show, they were fantastic, very accommodating in offering a visit to there amazing facility, where they demonstrated all the available solutions for us. Chris was one of the most knowledgeable people I had spoken to, and advised against wasting money on overpriced equipment, but getting the balance between image quality and exceptional sound.
PRODUCTS
A 120” acoustic projector screen was selected, paired with the BenQ W4000i projector to deliver stunning 4K visuals. To maintain a sleek aesthetic, we manufactured a custom projector ceiling mount, powder-coated black to blend seamlessly with the dark ceiling.
For sound, a 5.1.2 surround system was installed, featuring three JBL Studio 88IW in-wall speakers discreetly placed behind the acoustic screen. Four JBL Conceal invisible speakers were fitted into the ceiling and painted over, making them completely undetectable. A REL HT/1003 subwoofer was positioned in the corner of the room, delivering deep, powerful bass.

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS
For dedicated cinema rooms, clients typically have a clear vision of the aesthetic and style they want to achieve. Our role in this project was to focus on specifying the right equipment and ensuring optimal placement for the best possible performance.
One advantage of this project was that the client's builders were already on-site constructing the extension. To streamline the installation process, we provided the builders with CAD drawings detailing studding dimensions and speaker placements. This ensured precise positioning of the LCR speakers behind the screen, preventing any complications during installation. The result was a seamless integration of the home cinema system into the new space without delays or design conflicts.
OUTCOME
The completed cinema room is a stylish yet cozy space, perfect for family movie nights. The dark walls and ceiling enhance the cinematic feel, while the client’s choice of slat wood panelling and LED lighting adds a modern touch. The room achieves the ideal balance of performance and aesthetics, with high-quality visuals and immersive sound concealed within a beautifully designed space.
All of family love the cinema room and audio throughout the house, and we couldn’t speak highly enough of Pure theatre, there level of customer service and knowledge base, and exceptional quality equipment, leaving competitors with some work to do in my eye.
In addition to the home cinema, the client also invested in a multi-room audio system for their family room and kitchen diner. To maintain consistency, they opted for the JBL Conceal series, paired with Harman Kardon Citation Amps for seamless audio distribution. The system was further extended outdoors with a pair of Monitor Audio Climate 80 speakers, ensuring high-quality sound throughout the entire property.
